Enhancing Sustainable Production Through Heat Recovery

Enhancing Sustainable Production Through Heat Recovery

At Türk Tuborg, we continue to invest in technologies that enhance energy efficiency and increase our positive environmental impact, in line with our sustainable growth strategy. In this context, at our production facility in İzmir, we implemented one of the first industrial heat pump projects in Türkiye’s beverage industry in collaboration with GEA, aligned with the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standards we introduced in 2023. With this innovative project, we are taking concrete steps toward our sustainability goals by using our resources more efficiently.

This technology, which enables the recovery of waste heat generated by our existing cooling systems, significantly enhances our energy efficiency. The recovered energy is converted into process heat and actively reused in our production processes.

The heat pump system, which became fully operational at the beginning of 2025, has delivered measurable results in a short period. Our first nine months of operational data show that the system enabled savings of 3,723,947 kWh of thermal energy, corresponding to approximately 6.8% of the total heat energy used in the wort production process. This reduction in natural gas consumption has helped lower our carbon footprint, resulting in a 7.4% decrease in CO emissions. In addition, by reducing the load on our cooling towers, we achieved water savings of 8,550 m³, further improving resource efficiency.

With these gains in energy, water, and emissions, we are not only improving our operational efficiency today but also reinforcing our low-carbon, sustainable production approach and continuing to create positive impact across our value chain.
