KÖK Development Program Graduates 100 Participants in Its First Year

Launched to prepare women engineering students in food, chemical, and agricultural engineering for professional life, the KÖK Development Program has celebrated its first graduates. A total of 100 aspiring women engineers from 18 cities across Türkiye earned the Türk Tuborg KÖK Development Program Certificate.

With our inclusive human resources approach, we have increased the share of women employees company-wide by 40%, by 67% in managerial and above roles, and by 48% in production functions over the past five years—placing Türk Tuborg above the national average in women engineer employment. According to TMMOB’s 2024 data, women engineers represent 24% nationwide in Türkiye, while this figure reaches 43% at Türk Tuborg. With 50% female representation on our Board of Directors and 43% in Senior Management, we are taking concrete steps and aim to extend this strong internal progress across the wider industry.

Aligned with this goal, the KÖK Development Program has completed its first year. Implemented in collaboration with Originn Creative Hub to increase women’s representation in work life, production, and leadership, the program welcomed 100 women students—41 from food engineering, 39 from chemical engineering, and 20 from agricultural engineering—studying at universities across Türkiye. Participants who successfully completed the program received their certificates at a ceremony held in İzmir on December 10.

“We Stand with Women Engineers”

Highlighting the significance of the KÖK Development Program for women engineers, Türk Tuborg CEO Damla Birol stated: “We see it as our responsibility to increase women’s representation in food, chemical, and agricultural engineering—fields that are central to our production activities. With the motto ‘Join, Learn, Discover,’ we launched the KÖK Development Program to help students in these disciplines start their professional lives more strongly. We are proud to see that 11 of the 26 students who graduated from university this summer have already begun working at corporate companies. With this motivation, we will continue to expand the program and support women engineers.”
